Common misunderstandings about The Hospitality Club

• If you decide to join the club, you do not have to do anything if you do not want to. As a member, you do not have any obligations. This means:
  • You do not have to pay anything ever. It's free!
  • You do not have to host anybody if you do not like to or if you do not have the possibility to do so.
  • You do not have to meet anybody/somebody if you do not want to or if you do not have enough time.
• You can, if you want, use the club only for meeting other members while you travel. Of course, the whole idea would not work if everybody would act like this. But it is actually not against the idea because it is still an exchange of cultures (your culture meets the host's culture). The location is not crucial. It is all about meeting people.
• You can use the club, for instance, only for
  • meeting locals without staying at their home while you travel.
  • hearing about and going to HC gatherings all over the world, including your little town.
  • exchanging traveling tips with other people.
  • going for a cup of coffee with friendly local or foreign people.
• However, please note that The Hospitality Club is not a dating club.
• There are members of all ages in the club. It is not only for a specific age group. There are senior members, very young members, and everything in between.
• Although you do have to provide an existing home address and your real name in order to sign up (to prevent "fake" individuals from entering the club), you can choose not to have them visible in your profile. You can provide as much or as little information about you as you like but only the following items must be visible:
  • country
  • region
  • city
  • postal code
  • username
• One profile can be only for one individual person. Couples and families are encouraged to sign up individually but make references to each other in the profile.
