Dear Recruiter,

My name is Tilman Bauer and I would like to apply for a job in your company from 2008 onwards for approximately one year. I am interested in the business areas of marketing and general management.

Since 2005, I have been studying International Business in the Helsinki School of Economics, Mikkeli Campus. I will complete the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration program in July 2008 after which I plan to continue my studies on the Master’s level (in 2009). The strengths of the Mikkeli IB degree include fostering presentation skills, requiring effective time management skills due to the high curriculum pace, and delivering a broad knowledge about business operations in a global environment. Please refer to my attached CV for more information on my education.

My biggest strength is internationality. I have the nationalities of Finland and Germany, and I am a native speaker of both languages. Moreover, I have lived and travelled in many parts of the world, including Japan, New Zealand, and Peru. Consequently, I speak French, Spanish, and Swedish in addition to excellent oral and written skills of English.

As the students’ representative of my former high school in Helsinki, and as the Service Team Coordinator of the Hospitality Club (an international hospitality exchange network), I have acquired interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills. I have learned to communicate properly to make sure that any problems are solved and operational efficiency and effectiveness is assured. Leading and motivating a team has taught me to cooperate with different people in order to achieve a common goal.

As a person, I am outgoing, optimistic, spontaneous, and active. I enjoy making decisions fast and I prefer to take action immediately. On the other hand, I like to analyze matters thoroughly and work on long-term projects when necessary. In my free time I love to travel, get to know people and cultures, read about world history, and enjoy nature in all its forms. Furthermore, the fostering of worldwide peace by increasing intercultural understanding is a long-term project, which I support by volunteering in the Hospitality Club.
